Descriptions:

  • Screening for Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) in Family Law Cases: This training will define and explain the prevalence of domestic violence and its intersection in family law cases.  We will explore how to screen clients for IPV and strategies for representing clients experiencing IPV.
  • How Mediation Benefits Your Practice and Your Clients in Custody & Divorce: Misconceptions about mediation in custody and divorce have led to its underuse. But increasing evidence shows that using mediation could enhance outcomes for your practice and your clients. This session dispels common myths about mediation and shows how mediation, as a tool of first resort, including mandated use by courts in other jurisdictions, could benefit attorneys, the court and the wider Lancaster community.
  • Discussion of Current Family Issues in the Lancaster County Court of Common PleasThis session will be a roundtable discussion with the Family Law Judges of the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas regarding current family law issues.
