WEBINAR - The Pardons Process in PA

Date:
4/13/2021 at 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM

Event Description

The procedure for pardons in Pennsylvania has been streamlined and all costs eliminated. Additionally, the wait has been cut in half and the Governor is granting pardons to over 80% of the applicants after their hearings.

A recent study shows that simply signing pardons brought over $16 million into local economies across the state, because qualified people can get better jobs. Pardons are available only to people who have completed their sentences and “repaid their debt to society.”

The Lancaster Bar Association/Lancaster Law Foundation, CareerLink of Lancaster, and MidPenn Legal Services are working together to create a Pro Bono Pardon Project in Lancaster. Attorneys can volunteer to help low-income clients fill out the application form and get the best chance possible for a hearing. Learning how to be a “Pardon Coach” can be helpful to many private clients as well, since so many people may benefit from the pardon process.
